Partnership for Enhanced Care Hospice

Paawidigong First Nation Forum and Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation has partnered together in the creation of Hospice like setting to establish a framework to enhance care by providing an early approach to palliative care service, in the comfort of one’s home, family, and community. This program will provide a comprehensive and holistic approach that is led by the Indigenous Wellness Framework model of care that embracing the physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being.
This unique, culturally appropriate, community focused comforting care program is an added layer of support that enhances services along with Home and Community Care program in WLON. Formed with local healthcare services it aims at keeping members with a progressive, life-limiting/terminal illness in the comfort of their home and cared for by their family and community.
Coming full circle ensures your wishes are heard and respected by;
- Improving quality of life with a life-limiting illness.
- Advance Care Planning securing your values, beliefs and wishes.
- Plan of care when you are unable to voices your wishes.
- Promote comfort, dignity, and prevent suffering.
- Sharing knowledge with members as situations arise.
- Enhancing self reflection maintaining respectful relationships.
- Support with grief and loss for the member, family, and community.
- Assisting with navigation within healthcare system within circle of care.
The Hospice like setting is First Nation led and tailored to promote one’s autonomy with, family and community to journey full circle.
